Has anyone know of a script to make an image zoom out to full view over a span of time? Here's what I'd like to see: When page loads you see the center of a large image zoomed in so you only see a portion of the image, then gradually the image scales down (zoom out effect) until you can see the whole image.

the reason im asking this is because I tryed to use a different gallery from this website and all the pictures look nice and everything but when I upload them and see it on my website its pixelated and i don't know why this is happening and would the same thing happen if I use this one? if not what is it that makes a picture pixelated like i mean when I see it in flash and in the swf it looks perfect but when i upload its always pixelated, I havent tryed this one though, you think yours would help me out and not make it look pixelated ?

Hi Shaun

I have an art/photography website, morgaenart.co.za that I am busy redesigning. I found your interactive gallery flash movie on ffiles.com and would like permission to use it in my website if that is ok with you.

If I put it in my website in Dreamweaver CS3, how do I do that? I tested the movie after I inserted my images in Flash and it worked, however, when I insert it in Dreamweaver and I test it all I get is a black space.

Lastly, awesome work. Your interactive galleries are fantastic.

Cheers
Chris

Wlippo, this is the MXP: laco.wz.cz/tween/down.php?f=files/MovieC lipTween119a.mxp but that will only make it work when ou recompile the FLA to a new SWF file, you might have other issues in Dreamweaver because the default SWF that you download should work ok in Dreamweaver.

user raptormax
raptormax 17 years ago

You have to download the mxp-file(installing with
adobe Extension Manager) which include the needed "lmc_tween.as" what is needed here. You can find the File at laco.wz.cz/tween/?page=download. Then restart Flash and it will works. I hope I could help.

user adrianTNT
adrianTNT (admin) 17 years ago

ModatSBD, the fla doesn't work when you recompile it, I think you are aware of this. Can you make it work? This and other 3 galleries are the best so I want to make sure all works ok before naming a winner.

user ModatSBD

hi there wlioo,
Make sure all the files are in the same folder excpet the gallery images. These need to be in a different folder but this is all dependant on where the XML calls the images from.

user wlippo
wlippo 17 years ago

I was able to download the files. but when i test it on a fictitious webportolfio page, all it comes up is the background, the interactivity and thumbnail pictures doesn't work. I am putting the files in the right folder. what is it happening?

the listing author ModatSBD 17 years ago

Hey siebke,

Thanks alot for your message. I think you've pretty much said what my exact aim of this file was. "...this is a solid base to learning people to build it out into even better stuff."

Alot of people have given me ideas and tips and i really do appreciate them and i would have implemented alot of them myself, but it would have detracted from the file be easily customizable. I want guys to download this and go and fiddle themselves to expand thier flash and Actionscript capabilities.

It's very exciting to hear that i have inspired you to work with futher developments and i wish you all the best with them.

user siebke
siebke 17 years ago

I've been playing with it and did some cool extras/edits with a little extra stack support for more images with use of subtle overlaps and stuff, as well as a noScale and TL alignment for better fullscreen (read: full browser, 100%x100% display using SWFobject). Also replaced the lmc_tween with the full mc_tween 2 as and replaced the easeout effect etcetera with other dandy transition effects. Looks great and works fine. Still have to modify the loadbars to get them to look swell too, but played with the picture looks first to have more fun.

You might want to see it ModatSBD? Send me an e-mail.
I'll see if I can finally sign up for paypal and donate some bucks. If you ask me, until now, you are the winner in this contest because this is a solid base to learning people to build it out into even better stuff. I'm no expert, but that's what I think ;)...

This is nice. I particularly like the sort and randomize feature. I only wish you didn't need to label the categories into columns. I wish it could be done automatically, and zoom out automatically, taking into consideration whatever amounts of photos you had, be it 5, or 500 :D haha.. 500. Well, 200 would be cool. ;) Great work/entry though. Thanks for sharing. P.S. And I'm not being critical, just pointing out some features that would make something good, become something GREAT! Take care. Thanks again.

Nope...you're right on the money. Good job! That is exactly how I was going to do it.

Just need to find out if i can update my post now :P

The smoothImageLoad function is a great way to get around this issue and i had developed the gallery so that it could be that easy to plug it in.

So you're not stupid at all to be honest. Hehe :)

user siebke
siebke 17 years ago

Okay thanks Modat!

Since I got a bit more into actionscript through FFiles, I got it to work myself. Go see frontend-multimedia.com/smoothImageLoade r/ on how to get it working.

I don't know if I am allowed to post how to get the stuff working over here but I just put the first big chunk of code in an empty action layer on the first frame of the movie.
Then I found and replaced this code:
thePhoto.photoHold.imgLoad.loadMovie('i mages/'+thePhoto.thumbURL);
With:
smoothImageLoad("images/"+thePhoto.thum bURL, thePhoto.photoHold.imgLoad)

Works perfectly! Now this gallery is even more tasty! If there's a better way to do it, please tell me I'm stupid and say how it is to be done!

user ModatSBD
the listing author ModatSBD 17 years ago

Hey Guys...Thanks for the comments.

I'll look into adding the smoothImageLoader and upload it sometime. unfortunately i dont think i'll have it up in time for the competition close date. But i'll try get it up anyway.

user siebke
siebke 17 years ago

ModatSBD: Okay :) I would go for the smoother too, since it's possible, hopefully suitable for most machines these days and probably will make it lots more elegant that it already is. Again thumbs up and please, keep feeding the people goodies like this which they can chew on and see code to learn from. Thanks again.

user anarchy
anarchy 17 years ago

any chance of you uploading the one that uses the smooth images loader so i can see the difference? is it suppose to take alot longer to load or something ?

user ModatSBD
the listing author ModatSBD 17 years ago

siebke:

Thanks for the comment. There is infact a way around the thumbnail issue. It's using a smooth images loader that resamples the image and maintains the visibility and crispness. i chose not to use it though to increase performance when interacting with the photos.

The images do fall under each other, hence the addition of the Randomize button on the top left. the focus of the gallery is to give the user an experience aswell as allow them to interact with the images. Although i have tested it with 36 photos and its actually quite fun trudging through photos. Just edit the XML file to see.

Thanks again for the comment.

user siebke
siebke 17 years ago

Very cool. Too bad thumbs get so cripsy when they rotate...
5/5. Nothing to do about that? Also, it's not accounted for large numbers of images when you stack them? They disappear? Or am i wrong? Anyway, one of the best in the contest so far design-, concept- and smoothwise... Along with the one from raptormax.

user megangee

user ModatSBD

The reason for the unequal borders was actually because the photos are ment to look like traditional Polaroid Photos...they extra area isnt actually needed, just wanted to create an environment where it looks like you are flicking photos around a lightbox.

Hey, thanks for the tip, but ironically it's already in there. The button on the top left call Stack (with the 2 blocks) organises the photos very nicely.

I like it but personally I think it would look better if the thumbs margins are equal, I know the bottom one is used for title but when you view them as thumbs it would look better to have equal borders.
I just noticed that if you drag them fast and let go the photos bounce in the stage margins, nice :)
